QI Group staff Sulis Rubianti @rubirubi_tch from Malaysia was deeply moved by a recent volunteering experience at a senior citizens home.
“My colleagues and I arrived at the Home and were taken aback by its state. The residents just looked forlorn and resigned. We were horrified by what we saw. The home smelt bad and the paint was peeling off everywhere. As we got to work to start cleaning the place and giving it a fresh coat of paint, the joy and happiness on the faces of the elderly residents was palpable. They were so grateful to us and kept thanking us repeatedly.
“It was just a few hours of my day, but for them this will have long lasting impact. I know that I want to do more,” she added.
